Considering the aforesaid floods in Maharashtra, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has taken the decision of watering 10% water in the city for the next monsoon to maintain water stock. Due to the decrease in the reservoir by 15%, the water will be used for the next monsoon. It has been reduced by 15 per cent during the supply time.
In the beginning of November, the storage of ponds has been reviewed and in the period of November 1, 2018, to 31 July, 2019, for 243 days in the Vaitarna lake area for 293 days, Bhasa has 209 days of water supply. So there is no other option except deduction. Apart from this, the water has to be utilized in reserved reserves. This watercourse will be applicable for residential, commercial and industrial water connections. Municipal Commissioner Ajay Mehta approved this decision.
The statement presented in the Standing Committee on Wednesday was mentioned not only when the water cut will be applied, but the proposed reduction has been mentioned. The water-related department has not yet implemented any water cut in this regard. However, the Commissioner’s office clarified that the water cut has been implemented. It is seen that the municipality administration is unanimous.
Thane, Bhiwindali also hit
Thane and Bhiwindi will be affected by the 10 per cent watercourse announced in Mumbai. This will also reduce the water of these cities. About 150 million litres of water is supplied by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation in Thane and Bhiwind. This water supply will be reduced by 10 per cent. Therefore, the impact of this cut-off will be available to Thane and Bhiwandi. New water connections will not be allowed during this period, said municipal corporation. For the new water connection, about 5000 applications in the 24 departments of the corporation will now be considered after July 2019. The decision to water dispensation is currently going to save 380 million water every day. By the end of July, water engineers will be told to save about 9 lac 200 million litres of water. Whether it is to cut the water in Mumbai or not, it has the right to be completely administered. Therefore, the 10 per cent water cut should not be approved by a standing committee. This statement has been submitted for the information of Standing Committee only, said a senior Engineer of Water Electricity Department on this occasion.
